-- I dont know if you have followed the story of Ahed Tamimi, the teenager who has now become the face of the Palestinian struggle. Tamimi was arrested after a confrontation with Israeli soldiers went viral. In the video clip, Tamimi is seen slapping and kicking a heavily armed Israeli soldier and throwing a group of the soldiers out of her family's home after they had enterred it without permission. Tamimi is currently detained, but is reported to have refused to cooperate with the Israeli military court that is trying her because she does not recognise its jurisdiction over Palestinians. She says she is willing to be detained for life and even to die if necessary rather than accept the jurisdiction of the court..
But Tamimi's defiance is one of several by Palestinian women, who have brought back the Palestinian struggle to the fore front of world attention. The question I ask therefore is this- is this not the most effective route for Palestinians to take, rather than carry on the path of Islamic jihad and suicide bombing? .Ahed Tamimi, with flowing, shoulder length blonde hair, has won the hearts of the world, a million times more than a suicide bomber wearing a hijab would ever even remotely remotely hope to do.
