{UAH} Beti Kamya Blocks Lukwago from Attending World Bank Conference - The Pearl Times

Frank Mujabi,

There seems to be bad blood between Kamya and Likwago. Here she is blocking him from attending a conference to which he has been officially invited. Instead she is nominating his deputy to take his place. I wonder whether she even has power to do that. Very strange how Kampala City Council is being run. There was also another Urban Conference that took place in Tehran, Iran recently, and both Kamya and Lukwago went for it- although it was intended for only heads of city councils. Lukwago took the opportunity to roundly atttack Kamya and her boss kayibanda Museveni- it was really embarrassing. Maybe thats why Kamya and her new boyfriend Kayibanda dont want a repeat.

The conference, the ninth session of the World Urban Forum will happen in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 7 to February 13.

Lukwago received the invitation from UN Under-Secretary General and executive director UN-Habitat Dr Joan Clos on December 19.

The World Bank also sent Lukwago a visa and a ticket and asked KCCA to pay $1,800 for the mayor's accommodation and per diem.

But Kamya wrote to KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi ordering that Lukwago be blocked.

"…for that matter, his worship the Lord mayor Erias Lukwago isn't cleared to travel to Malaysia," Kamya wrote on January 06.

Kamya is not giving any reasons for blocking Lukwago.

She simply assigned Kawempe Division mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi to 'stand in for' Lukwago.

There has been bad blood between the two city heads with Kamya reportedly planning to throw Lukwago out of Kampala mayor position.
