Letter from UNAA founders and former Leaders
Saturday, February 24th 2018

Dear UNAA Members and Well-wishers:

While we recognize and congratulate the UNAA membership for standing up and making their voices heard, we are also aware that we are at a very critical crossroad where UNAA's continued unity and harmony is being challenged by individual interests at the expense of our greater good – where the only certain outcome is one where UNAA will not win.

In light of these circumstances, we have decided to unite, rise above our individual obligations, and put aside any real or imagined differences to implore both sides in this conflict to summon the courage to embrace their responsibility of putting UNAA above their individual interests by immediately adopting the following:

1) To cease all hostilities in all forms and fora - foreign and domestic against each other, UNAA's general membership, or any other organ of UNAA.

2) Demonstrably, unequivocally and without any preconditions submit to a neutral, independent, professional external third party arbitration process – as called for in our constitution and bylaws in article 11.14 – "Arbitration: In the event of a dispute concerning the interpretation of provisions of these Bylaws, all attempts shall be made by the UNAA Board of Trustees to resolve the dispute through arbitration before court intervention is sought".

3) Pledge to attending, building and promoting the one and only UNAA Convention celebrating its 30th Anniversary at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on Seattle's Eastside, Bellevue, WA.

To facilitate this process, the undersigned, are making themselves available to embark on this journey with immediate effect given the urgency of the matter. As UNAA members ourselves, we think this should not be allowed to ferment a day longer.

We ask all parties who feel so aggrieved to indicate their commitment in writing by sending an email to any of the undersigned by close of business day on Monday, February 26th 2018 6pm HST.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sarah M. Matovu (UNAA Vice President 1997-1999)
Mr. Sam M. Kigwe (UNAA President 2001-2003)
Dr. Frank S. Matovu (UNAA Vice President 2001-2003)
Ms. Rosette V. Serwanga (UNAA President 2003-2005)
Mr. Abdul K. Kimbugwe (UNAA President 2005-2007)
Mr. Moses O. Nekyon (UNAA Vice President 2003-2007)
Mr. Ronnie Kabaale (UNAA Council Speaker 2011-2013)
Mr. Brian M. Kwesiga (UNAA President 2013-2015)
Mr. John M. Ssemanda, MBA (UNAA Vice President 2015-2017)
