Here is Kanda Bongo Man specially for you- just a snippet from his huge repertoire of African musical extravaganza. One thing to note- the Bongo Man is credited with inventing Kwasa-Kwasa, the famous Congolese dance genre which has metamorposed into Sokous. So stop fretting and enjoy your saturday. You can sample some of the Kwasa-Kwasa moves as well. No harm in enlivening your joints as well as your spirits.

Kanda Bongo Man
Kanda Bongo Man, born in 1955 in Inongo in D.R. Congo of the Bandundu people, left school at the age of 18 to join a local Kinshasa band, Makoso Bika. He quickly moved on to play with the Orchestre Bella Mambo of Soki Dianzenza in 1976. He jumped from band to band, in 1977, he and virtuoso Diblo Dibala left to create Bana Mambo. In 1979, Orchestre Bella Bella reunited, but didn't there was a reunion album.

Seeking a wider audience, Kanda moved to Paris while Diblo moved to Brussels in 1979, where he first worked in a window-pane factory. His big breakthrough came in 1981 with the release of Iyole, which he recorded with Orchestre Bella Bella, with Diblo Dibala on lead guitar.

In 1983, Kanda played WOMAD in the UK and his international reputation was born. The Bongo Man (his father was also called Bongo Man) sings in Lingala. In 1987, he popularized the "Kwassa Kwassa", which was created by dancer Jeannorat. Kanda invited vocalist Solo Sita Zola, who at the time, was part of Empire Bakuba, to animate and demonstrate the Kwassa Kwassa dance. In Mid/Late 1987, after the phenomenal Sai-Liza album, virtuoso Diblo left to create Loketo with Aurlus Mabele. As replacement, Kanda recruited Dally Kimoko and they toured around the world including Colombia, there's an album that features this live concert. In 1990, Dally left and Nene Tchakou filled as lead guitarist, Nene's reputation skyrocketed and many phoned him for session work. Kanda is one of the few Congolese musicians that toured South Africa, which is very successful and known over there. He moved to the UK in the 2000's and has revamped his band lineup including virtuoso Jeannot-Bell, whose channel "Soukous Congo" [featuring guitar tutorials for beginners and professionals, original compositions, and music from other artists as well; bassist Kibisi Douglas, rhythm guitarist Ladi Mbala (played with Defao), drummer Padot Machine X, vocalist Eugene Rabbi Makuta (sang with Defao), and vocalist Gianni Calugi.

Zing Zong is a soukous album made by Kanda Bongo Man. The album is dedicated to the memory of Soki Vangu and his brother Soki Dianzenza, who were in the earlier Zairean soukous band Orchestre Bella Bella. Both brothers died within a year of each other.
