Museveni: Mwijukye Is A Useless MP; I Struck Buhweju Off Uganda's Map
Museveni: FDC Candidate Virginia Mugyenyi Will Not Help Sheema Municipality
Three-decade president Yoweri Museveni has described Francis Mwijukye, an MP of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, as a "useless person".
Campaigning for Dr Elioda Tumwesigye, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, in the in Sheema Municipality election on Thursday, Museveni castigated Buhweju county voters for electing Mwijukye.
By electing Mwijukye, said Museveni "those people of Buhweju relieved me of the burden".
He further hit at the people of Buhweju for rejecting the NRM candidate who would have helped them.
"They refused to send me [Ephraim] Biraaro, and voted a useless person, called Mwijukye," said the president while addressing a rally at Kabwohe playground.
"I have never seen Mwijukye."
In 2016, Mwijukye garnered 26,396 votes to beat Biraaro who got 20,173 votes in a district where Museveni got 85.9 per cent of the total cast votes in a presidential elections that happened over two years ago.
Museveni said the people of Buhweju had lost out on services since Mwijukye does not belong to NRM.
"Nobody has since disturbed me concerning Buhweju's issues. During Hon Biraaro's tenure, I couldn't relax because he disturbed me a lot asking for tarmac roads, hospitals, government schools and so many other things," said the president.
"He even made me to tarmac a rural small road from Ibanda district up to Buhweju district."
With Biraaro exit, Museveni says he has "struck Buhweju off the map".
So, who lost? Is it Biraaro or Buhweju?"
Buhweju is still on the map of Uganda but Museveni seemed to mean that he had struck the district off the areas of his priority.
He warned the people of Sheema against playing politics.
"Stop playing with politics. I have told you that in 1962, people though politics was a joke. The resultant was loss of lives; we suffered."

"That woman [opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Virginia Plan Mugyenyi] will not help you at all," said Museveni.
Also the NRM chairman, Museveni said Mugyenyi, like Mwijukye, would have no access to the party's caucus meetings which discuss development projects.
He reminded the voters that NRM had the numbers in parliament and it would be safe for them to vote for Tumwesigye if they wanted to see Sheema Municipality develop.
Tumwesigye, also science and technology minister, is the current Sheema North MP.
He opted to run in the parliamentary election after Sheema was granted a municipality status.
