'I get p****d off!' Sweden PM reacts FURIOUSLY to mass arson attacks
SWEDEN has been left outraged after the "despicable" series of riots which swept the nation last night with even the prime minister saying he was "p****d off".
Sweden: Masked gang torch over 60 cars in Gothenburg
Swedish politicians were quick to react after at least 80 vehicles were torched in the greater Gothenburg region.
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven blasted the acts in an interview with Swedish radio, saying: "I get p****d off for real.
"Society will come back hard on this."
The Social Democrat leader added that he wanted to ask the rioters "what the hell are you doing"?
He also raised questions about the scope and timing of the attacks, which police suspect were coordinated via social media.
Mr Löfven said: "It looks very coordinated, almost like a military operation."
He also said the police probe would show if the attacks were down to vandalism, organised crime or something else entirely.
Justice and Interior Minister Morgan Johansson said the rioting was "despicable".
He tweeted: "Last year the government tightened the punishment for aggravated vandalism, which can now give up to six years in jail.
"Hope the thugs get arrested so that they get the punishment they deserved."
Leader of the centre-right opposition party the Moderates, Ulf Kristersson, wrote on Facebook: "Dreadful scenes are being played out in Gothenburg.
"These are no 'protests', this is sabotage. Sweden has tolerated this far too long. It has to end."
Justice spokesperson for the Liberals, Roger Haddad, blasted the attacks as "unacceptable".
He added: "Parents also have to be involved, they have to be woken up and informed of what their sons are doing."
Fires were reported in Malmö, Gothenburg and Helsingborg and shocking footage showed youths destroying vehicles in a shopping centre and hospital car park in Frölunda Torg in the west of the country.
Sweden police said: "While most fires were started within a short period of time, it can not be excluded that there is a connection between the fires, the case will be investigated."
The violence comes just three weeks before a general election.
It is expected eurosceptic and right-wing parties could make significant gains in the polls.
