{UAH} Economist David Ndii mocks William Ruto’s PhD qualification

Edmund/ Edward P'Ojim,

Your David Ndii  advises the Ethipian Prime Minister not to use his Ph.D  title as he is doing a good job already, which speaks for itself. He says it is insecure individuals like Robert Mugabe, Grace Mugabe and Mr Ruto who  constantly want to draw attention to their academic qualifications. He may have a  point, although I see nothing wrong with mentioning a genuine academic qualification like the one Abiy Ahmed has from the University of Greenwich, in Woolwich UK.. Ruto's degree is most likely bogus and of no consequence.

Economist David Ndii mocks William Ruto's PhD qualification

Economist David Ndii has strongly criticised Deputy President William Ruto's academic credentials and termed them as "a hallmark of insecure scoundrel".

Ndii got into the rant on Thursday, November 8, while responding to a tweet by Ethiopian Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed who, in the post, included the acronym PhD in his name.

The NASA strategist said it was unnecessary for Ahmed to tell people that he was doctorate degree holder urging that it was a sign of academic credentialism.

"H.E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) is holding discussions with high ranking military commanders this morning, marking the close of deliberations that have been taking place at different levels within the Ministry of Defence," the post by Ethiopian PM read.

Angered by the statement, Ndii responded by branding the post as a bad way of relating with his (PM's) audience.

"May I suggest you drop (PhD). Its bad PR. Your PM does not need credentialism - his leadership speaks for itself.
Academic credentialism in Africa is the hallmark of insecure scoundrels like Grace Mugabe and William Ruto," the economist reacted

TUKO.co.ke, understands that on Wednesday, October 24, Ruto defended his PhD thesis on the influence of pollution on riparian land.

Ruto, already boasts of a Bachelors Degree in Botany and Zoology and a Masters Degree in Plant Ecology from the University of Nairobi.

The DP failed to graduate in 2017 for his PhD and when asked why, he claimed that he had failed to meet some required minimum threshold.

He is set to be conferred with the top degree in the next graduation ceremony at the same institution.

Ndii's sentiments were met by mixed reactions and among those who responded castigated him for what they termed as petty criticism.

Some, however, echoed his sentiment by pocking more holes in the DP's academic crowns

Your hatred and bile actually makes me question your levels of sanity," a tweep identified as Eric Ciuku wrote.

True Patriot claimed that Ndii was just envious of the DP's social, economic academic and political status.

"When will you reach that level of being called deputy president? It seems you are envious of Ruto. Easy ! Easy !Easy! Daktari," tweeted Patriot.

Ndii, however, sought to clarify, that he earned his own PhD 20 years ago and that he never uses it to boast.

The Economist was emphatic that earning the degree does not make anyone any better but what they do with it.

Wilson Shollei contradicted Ndii's onslaught towards the DP by saying that if Ruto earned his PhD honestly, then it was worth being celebrated.

"I think no one should be berated for holding a PhD. If acquired legitimately, then it should be celebrated. It is also okay for Ruto to work hard and earn a PhD and it should not be correlated to any leadership position," Shollei wrote.
