{UAH} WHY IS MEDIA AND FORUMS NEVER RAN AS ANY OTHER INVESTIMENT?

We have a struggle in this country that reminds me the struggle that lives in UAH. Canada is a capitalist country thus an open society  where you open up a business and survive if you run it effectively, it collapses if you run it stupidly. In business we thus live in a society where survival is for the fittest. Many companies have closed shop, we had The Simpsons it died, we now have Sears on a blink of dying, Gap has started to close stores for the market has changed. One of the problems with Canada Post is the introduction of the internet, I do not remember when I actually wrote a letter and posted it last. For some very unknown reason, this principle of survival of the fittest only excludes one industry, the information exchange system thus the written media and the forums. You see from time memorial, newspapers and forums were structured to be politically independent, they are funded through advertisements and writing  about local issues. As time goes by, society has become so internationalized that I do not need to read an advertisement in a Toronto paper to know what nice beer to drink. Much of the beers we drink here is actually manufactured from The States, beer stores in  Ontario are owned by a European company, have I ever seen any manufacturer advertising beer in Globe and Mail? I  do not even remember. Companies like Google and Yahoo have taken over the advertisements that it is simply silly to advertise in a paper. Local  issues yes can be written on in a city like Toronto, but when you live in a suburb under 10,000 really how many local issues do you get to run a paper? One crime in 15 years?

 

Instead of society realizing that written media has become old Dinosaurs and must be left alone, governments started to pump money into them, a support of local media to remain alive.  And that is where the problem start from, will a political party fund a paper that is against it? Will a paper critique a government that funds it? How do you separate that funding from putting a thumb on what the media writes? As we continue with our lives, papers are going to continue to be useless, there is no longer an old man that sits on his porch to read a paper any more, we read everything on line. And that is exactly where the forums are going. We have for a very long time here directed all television stations through CRTC to have a certain percentage of Canada content, and we define that with protecting our industry from the American companies. Well guess what? People do not read unless there is an American content. When they do not read they do no pay and the papers starve. Talk radio stations were instructed to talk about Canadian issues, you do that and people do not call in, you start an American, or an African, or a Middle Eastern topic and phones light off the board. It reminds me how American topics were banned in UAH. That ban became weak because it only became effective to topics that back Donald J Trump. Every crap that was attacking Trump was flying free, just this morning an “Intelligent” individual  just defined him as a clown. That is fine by the moderators, but if you raise up and state that African wars have started to die down for Trump is not funding them as Democrats do, that becomes moderated. By the way it was never my intention to defend Trump. But the debate about him became so unbalanced, and no one cared to even to raise the danger in such stands.

 

We had a financial statement yesterday where the Federal government promised to create a slash fund of about 500 or 600 million dollars in support of news media. We are going to create an independent body that will decide what paper to get the money and how to apply for it. Well that is a good idea for we The Liberals are in power today, we are going to pile up Liberals to decide who to give the money, but when we get out of power, do I really want the conservatives to decide what paper to fund? How independent will those papers be? There is no war that is personal than the war between Donald J Trump and CNN, it is personal and I wonder if CNN will live through this presidency. But if you call that news, then you did not follow how Obama attacked FOX to threatening them to be arrested. It happens every day the difference is style. Do we want the Federal government to create slash funds to run these institutions, so that Obama funds FOX and Trump funds CNN? How do we do that without putting a thumb on what is sent out there? By the way going back to local papers they die for major city papers gabble them out and they do not care about local issues, how do you fight that? I have started a paper in Toronto and these are the only topics I need to be discussed? I have started a forum and these are the only topics to be discussed? Well may be good luck is a good term here for you will need it. If you do not want discussion about Donald J Trump start by protecting him, and go after those that attack him. But when they call Melania a whore and you keep quiet, intelligent people will raise up and put up a good God damn defense, for you have created a simple question, are you setting up laws to protect the content or you are putting a thumb on information about Donald J Trump?

 

May be it time we start to treat media and forums as any other business that stands only on its merit, and allow the Dinosaurs to die a very slow death  !!!!!!
