Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak said yesterday that Benjamin Netanyahu is not fit to continue to serve in his position as prime minister, Quds Press reported.
"Netanyahu cannot concentrate on anything and does not remember whether his wife was in Nicaragua or Guatemala," Barak said. "Netanyahu is no more trusted."
He added: "Netanyahu's role is to rule the country, but he does not carry out his job; therefore, he is required to conduct a comprehensive discussion about Israel's goal: to support [the Palestinian Authority President] Mahmoud Abbas and weaken Hamas or vice versa."
Barak, who has been an outspoken critic for Netanyahu, added: "Netanyahu's government failed to carry out its job and it does not set moral criteria for its work. We see it falling."

"Israel is the strongest power in the region and Hezbollah and Hamas do not pose existential danger for us, but they can only bother out daily life."
"Netanyahu surrendered to Hamas in order to guarantee no rockets fired at Israel. Hamas does not understand anything but the language of power. Hamas is the enemy and you have to deal with it. The goal must be ending it."
He said that he believes that the upcoming elections would be the most decisive since the assassination of the former prime minister Ishak Rabin in 1995 or even since the October War of 1973.
Regarding the US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from Syria, Barak said: "This bad situation harms Israel and will create problems for it. This is partially because [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, [Iran's] Khamenei and [Syria's Bashar] Al-Assad had bigger roles in the region than us and Israel became less central."
