A man carrying a 'massive machete' has been tasered by police after shocked commuters saw him running around a busy south London railway station at rush hour while 'ranting'.
Stunned onlookers said that the machete-wielding man was subdued by officers using an electronic stun gun on a platform at Tulse Hill station at around 6.25pm.
They also revealed how some passengers screamed in alarm and praised train drivers pulling into the station for keeping the doors shut so the man couldn't get on board.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries and police have confirmed the man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Daniel Roberts tweeted: 'Women screaming and station in small chaos as a guy at Tulse Hill Station has just been tasered by police after running around with a machete.
'Must of had more than one weapon though as police seem to have multiple evidence bags.'
Jonewthan Yeary tweeted: 'Man with a massive machete wandering back and forth at Tulse Hill station ranting.
'Police have arrived, but may be worth avoiding the area.
'The train driver kept the doors shut, so big up @SouthernRailUK'
Paddy PB tweeted: 'Awful drama at Tulse Hill station tonight, massive respect to the @TLRailUK driver who kept calm, shut the doors and kept us informed as the police did what they had to do.'
Commuters said that dozens of officers swarmed the station in the minutes after the suspect was subdued.
Lawyer David Northfield said: 'Terrifying incident at Tulse Hill station where several of us had to run from a man wielding a machete.
'He has now been subdued by police - very grateful for them being there quickly and acting bravely.'

Brand and content manager Charlotte Wood described the incident as 'very frightening to watch.'
But she added: 'I am so impressed with the response by the police.
'A total out of body experience. Well done to everyone that apprehended him..'
Ash New tweeted: 'Literally about 12 police cars and 30 police officers at Tulse Hill station. Hats off to this response. Saw police collecting evidence on platform.'
Journalist Conor Fortune, who was on a train that pulled into Tulse Hill station, said: 'On a train home and the driver announced she's shut the doors and called the police due to 'a dangerous man on the platform.'
British Transport Police released the following statement this evening: 'Shortly after 6.30pm today officers from British Transport Police and the Metropolitan Police were called to Tulse Hill station after reports of a man in possession of a knife.
'Police officers were quickly on scene and detained a man on the platforms at the station. During the detainment a Taser device was discharged.
'The man (no further details at present) was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, he is being taken to custody. There are no reported injuries.
'Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 478 of 14/01/2019.
'This incident is not currently believed to be terror related.'
