South Sudan deports self-proclaimed Ugandan prophet

A self-proclaimed Ugandan prophet has been deported back to his country following a court order in South Sudan's Gbudue State, an official said.

The state spokesperson, Hussein Enoka Ibrahim on Monday said Isaac Martin Abiluson had completed his sentence in Yambio prison.

Abiluson, a self-proclaimed prophet of the Tabernacle Church, was, in September last year, sentenced to three months in jail for committing adultery.

"When his time in prison finished, he was freed," Enoka told reporters.

He said the state deported the self-proclaimed prophet to the capital, Juba after a letter from the country's immigration director.

"This letter was addressed on January 30, 2019 to the police commissioner of the state about the prophet. On February 1, 2019, he was deported to Juba and after some days, he was deported from Juba to his country," explained the state official.

According to the laws of South Sudan, anybody who commits adultery has committed a crime under section 266/48 of South Sudan Penal Code 2008 and it is punishable by law with a term of up to two years imprisonment, a fine or both
