The Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the February
23, 2019, Presidential Election, Muhammadu Buhari, has responded to
the petition filed against him by the PDP Presidential Candidate,
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the Tribunal.
Atiku Abubakar had petitioned the 2019 Presidential Election Tribunal,
asking the Tribunal to amongst other things,
1. disqualify Muhammadu Bubari for not meeting the minimum educational
requirements to contest as President of Nigeria,
2. Declare him (Atiku Abubakar) as the rightful winner of the February
23, 2019 Presidential Election, based on the results collated and
obtained from the INEC server and the polling units by units collation
by the Party agents etc.
In his response to the PDP Presidential Candidate's petition,
Muhammadu Buhari, the APC Candidate argued that the former Vice
President of Nigeria and Candidate of the PDP is not from Nigeria
based on the 1961 plebiscite that was held in British Cameroon to
determine whether the people preferred to stay in Cameroon or align
with Nigeria.
However, information available to us is to the effect that President
Buhari hailed from Niger Republic, a town named Daura which is
currently in Katsina State.
The current city of Daura in Katsina State was part of the city in
Niger Republic that was conquered by Bayajidda who trekked across the
Sahara into Niger Republic.
In 1805, during the Fulani War, Daura was taken over by Fulani warrior
Malam Ishaku, who set up an emirate. The Hausa set up rival states
nearby, and the ruler is one Malam Musa, who was later made the new
emir of Daura by the British in 1904.
It is therefore ridiculous for the same President Muhammadu Buhari,
who is not from Nigeria to be claiming that the PDP Presidential
Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not from Nigeria.
It's important for President Buhari and his Party the All Progressive
Congress (APC), to focus on the facts presented by the PDP and Alhaji
Atiku Abubakar at the Presidential Tribunal, instead of descending
into mondane issues of country of origin.
We are aware that the only reason why President Buhari and his Party,
the APC cannot face Atiku at the Tribunal is because the evidence
before the judiciary will definitely reclaim the Mandate, freely given
to Atiku Abubakar on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria
