{UAH} 5 SHOCKING THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ARE CRIMES
5 SHOCKING THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ARE CRIMES
1. FIGHTING IN PUBLIC is a crime called affray. When you see two chaps just going at it with fists you may thing, that's okay, that is how men act, however, according to the law, both have committed and offence and can be arrested and charged before a Magistrate.
2. WHISTLING AT WOMEN or "catcalling". These things bodaboda men like to do of saying "hey baby come here" are actually not allowed and are quite criminal aside from being offensive and just wrong. It is called indecent assault.
3. DISTURBING THE PEACE OF THE DEAD. This is the broad categorization of a series of offences which include unlawfully digging up bodies from the places where they were buried, mutilating the bodies or intentionally doing any other thing or activity on the burial place which is considered offensive by the deceased or their family.
4. HOUSE BREAKING. Going into someone's house without their permission is actually illegal. So, these things of thinking that just because you are friends you can go to their home and eat their food- one day you can be shocked when they call the police on you. By the way, if you do it at night, the offence is called "burglary" and it is more serious.
5. KILLING AN ANIMAL WITH INTENT TO STEAL. These things that happen in the village where someone kills your goat so that they can cut it up and sale it but then they tell you mbu it was dogs which killed it- it is actually a crime and they can charged and convicted by court if found guilty.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW- we hope you can be in a better position to avoid these crimes/ offences. Interestingly, the Uganda Law is in conformity with what Islam says about all the above.
