{UAH} GRAND DAD

I just found out this afternoon my son  and his girl friend are expecting a baby. The girl, also from Nigeria, is three months pregnant . But she is only 19 years old- still a student- so  they will require a lot of input from me.

 

I have really enjoyed my freedom since my children left home to lead independent lives, but it seems it is now over, with grandkids coming along.

 

Becoming a granddad brings to a shuddering end any further thought of me getting into a long term relationship. A lot of my current girlfriends  want to have children- but I can not see myself being a dad again- having children the  same age as my grandkids would be too cumbersome and too  complex for the children to understand.

 

So my son has finally unwittingly kicked me into retirement. I think I will make a very good grandad- so dont pity me and allow me let me start the final leg of my colourful journey. I have enjoyed it and have few regrets. I am only sorry that I hurt a few women along the way, but that's life.

PS: My Paris based niece Christina is also getting married to a Frenchman, so I have my hands full. It makes me feel so OLD because not so long ago, it was my late  father carrying  all these burdens on his shoulders. I am prepared for most things in life, but not for this. I am still very young in flesh and mind.
