{UAH} If Trump committed tax fraud and evasion with his father and lied with Michael Cohen, why isn't Trump charged with a crime?

For the same reason Trump has not (yet) been charged with a crime for ordering Michael Cohen to commit campaign finance fraud…

(Even though Trump is listed in official court documents now as "Individual 1" and described as "directing" Cohen to commit felonies, and as "ordering" these crimes.)

Trump is still (at the moment) the president of the United States. There are some memos within the Justice Department which suggest a sitting president should not be charged with a crime. Those are "policy" matters, and not law. Some believe it would be wisest to wait until he is no longer in office, and then charge him. Some disagree. Furthermore, the investigation is still ongoing. Any solid investigator will tell you it is typically best to wait until all of a person's crimes are uncovered before you publicly bring charges. As an investigator, it can be a mistake to bring charges for "cashing a bad check" — while you are also working on a future murder charge for the same person.

Finally (and this is purely conjecture) — it is actually possible that Trump has been charged with a crime, or two crimes, or five crimes. It appears that Mueller has brought some "sealed indictments," and we have no idea if those "sealed indictments" are aimed at George Papadopoulis, or Jared Kushner, or Donald Trump, or some lowly White House intern. We just do not know. And, we should not know. Yet.

(Most journalists agree that Mueller has now filed at least 12 indictments, because of three instances such as the one depicted below):

Investigations take time. This one has yielded impressive results, already. Nobody outside of Mueller's team knows what they have uncovered.
