The Ugandan North American Association is pleased to welcome Ms. Diane Basemera, CEO and Founder of Amooti.org, to the 31st Annual UNAA Convention.
Diane Basemera is the Founder and CEO of Amooti.org. Amooti is an online marketplace for unique handmade African inspired products, like clothing, jewelry and bags, that provides African artisans and designers with easy access to the American market. Amooti tells the stories of the artisans thus creating a deeper sense of understanding and appreciation of these exotic high-quality products.
Amooti was launched in 2016 and has been steadily growing covering a range of products from different parts of Africa including Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.
Diane is also passionate about real estate and spends her time helping people find their dream home or investment at a good deal. She is a realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
Before starting Amooti, Diane worked in IT support at Tech Networks of Boston, where she managed and worked with clients like Perkins School For the Blind and Youth Build USA. In her words, "Experiencing technology through a blind person's perspective is very humbling and can never leave you the same". Before that, she was a copy editor with New Vision Publishing and Printing Company.
Diane holds a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Makerere University.
Diane will be a featured speaker at the 11th Annual Trade and Investments Forum on Friday August 30th.
