{UAH} AFRICAN KIDS VS EUROPE'S

The way kids born and bred in Europe scream when they see little insects such as flies and spiders, makes one admire the spirit resilience of an African child. We grew up seeing these things, and we weren't bothered. The only thing that scared the shit out of me was the sight of snakes- I hate snakes.

I remember, at some point during my childhood, bed bugs invaded the residence of our farm workers. My grandfather (R.I.P) bought some smelly poisonous substance- I think they called it 'gramaxson ', which they used to spray all their beddings- to kill the bugs. These little crawling insects didn't really die. However, their presence didn't stop our workers from sleeping. Come to think of it, you can't actually feel the bites because bedbug saliva contains  a substance that acts as a mild anaesthetic. People get scared of them because it's in their heads, but they shouldn't stop anybody from sleeping like a baby!

I also remember one of our workers, a guy called Oketch- who used to drink unboiled water 365 days, but I never saw him fall sick. He used to drink in the same ponds cows drank from, and he had too much energy. May be, and this is just a " may be "- Africa is what it is, and nobody can change it!
