{UAH} Does NRM get it - OWC is doomed?

"I personally warn Germany Investors that they need to go to the
ground and do some fact finding . If they don't they will stand to be
blamed when we chase them off our land by all means." writes Joseph
Magandazi

Joseph you and who?

When I read yours, I could see exactly the same pattern I have been
highlighting here for some weeks - criminality or tendency to
criminality among us!

I will explain.

In the whole of my long life, these past eleven years - that is the
period between 2007 to date, has taught me much more about Uganda/ns
/Africa/ns than everything I learnt from school or elsewhere.

To note, there are some books I had piled in my Swedish home,
unfortunately I left behind when I moved. So I do not have copies
written about Uganda's agriculture since 1935, when the British
colonists tried had to "first" improve the nutritional values of the
(Bu /aganda), later improve incomes and raise taxation for
development.

What was the first organised Town in Uganda, Entebbe? Check out that.

(similar story as your narrative and how it started.)

Uganda as a country had no single media laboratory by 2008. What do I mean?

A student could go in an Africa University including Makerere
University in Uganda, study; Media, Film or Journalism (photography,
radio, film and TV production) without ever touching a TV/audio
editing machine, lighting machines (lighting engineering) or a camera.

Students passed with flying colours.

Do you listen to or watch Uganda radios/TV

Probably if I had stayed in Uganda - the above condition would have
been normal to me as well as the rest of Native African Ugandans!

Now, from my own experience I knew that some media houses in Europe
had perfect working studios they have in their stores that had been
decommissioned.

When working with a certain University - I questioned why and how
students were being taught media and journalism in a manner I have
describe above.

The answer was that is what we do!

I opposed that condition and also went to work.

I contacted my friends, and we got free fully equipped studios plus
studio cameras that could be linked to the internet, and do production
in real time, worthy over UGx 2 billion shs.

In short, on my own initiative I started for the first time ever in
Uganda the first fully fledged film, media and journalism laboratory.
( Uganda has had Journalism School (UMTAC) - and Francis Bbale was one
of the teachers)

The machines came from Germany and they also provided and paid one
experienced person in media and film production.

In reference to your utterance above, I needed a place to setup the
studio (lab). Some members of the university went up in arms and said
I quote " we do not want this Muzungu here"

That is, let me call them "a pack of academicians" - were hell bent to
frustrate this work.

But if you know and grasp the problem, I have also learnt, one tends
to be absolute.

I got UGX 200 million I needed and built the studios on the advise of
the Germany experts as required by those those who gave me the
machines. As I have written above - this become the first ever fully
equipped media, filming and journalist lab in Uganda and students
flooded in.

The rest is history.

Disheartening though, I have heard, when I left some cameras and
other equipment were stolen by native Ugandans - does it sound
familiar?
