Namilyango College student misses third day of UCE exams despite court order, sues head teacher

George William Eronda, a student of Namilyango College has today, Wednesday October 16 missed out on writing his Uganda Certificate of Education for a third day running. This despite court order signed by Mukono High Court deputy registrar Ms Harriet Nalukwago which compelled the school to allow the 18-year-old sit for the exams which started on Monday, October 14, 2019.
Eronda was last week expelled by the school for allegedly beating up a fellow student during a school trip.
He then rushed to Mukono High Court for redress.
On Monday, he turned up at the school in the company of his lawyer and a policeman and the court order in which Nalukwago said the school had acted illegally when they expelled him – ready to sit the first paper – Physics Practical.
He was however locked out of the exam room by the school head Constantine Mpuuga Sajjabi because he was no longer their student since he had been expelled.
He would also miss Tuesday's Chemistry Practical as he was at court seeking another order to have Sajjabi and the school board chairman Richard Kayondo for arrested for allegedly defying the earlier order by court.
"We served them a court order but now we have filed an application of warrant of arrest against the head teacher and the chairman board of governors," Eronda's lawyer, Mr George Kintu said according to a local daily.
After receiving their application on Tuesday afternoon, Nalukwago advised the student to serve the respondents (head teacher and board chair) by October 16, 2019 before she scheduled the case at 2pm for hearing.
Earlier on Monday, Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said the order had been cleared by police and therefore, there was no reason for the school to deny the student exams.
"The order was cleared
