Otafiire agents destroy Njeru veterinary workshop

Njeru stock farm has existed since 1949 was established to serve as a training center, demonstration farm, breeding center, research center and also had the Njeru veterinary workshop.

 

The future of the 750-acres Government-owned National Animal Genetic Resource Center ad Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) Njeru Stock Farm in Buikwe district now appears to hang in balance after it lost more land to encroachers last month.

 

On September 21, 2019, a group of 15 armed men led by one Wilberforce Muhangi who was sent by Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Kahinda Otafiire raided the facility yet again, destroyed government machinery, equipment, veterinary workshop, lab, and residential structures.

 

Njeru stock farm has existed since 1949 was established to serve as a training center, demonstration farm, breeding center, research center and also had the Njeru veterinary workshop.

 
The Njeru veterinary workshop site that was destroyed seats on 5.02 hectares and has since been fenced off using iron sheets. The group later packed all the items they had destroyed aboard trucks and took them away from the farm.

 
In an interview with Saturday Vision, confirmed his Construction company Global International Alliance was contracted by Gen. Otafiire to go and secure his land.

 

"His lawyers hired my company and in this particular project we were to clear the land," Muhangi said.  He denied claims that they ferried away destroyed material from the site.
