Omar’s Husband Ready to Divorce, Source Tells NY Post

A source close to Rep. Ilhan Omar and her husband Ahmed Hirsi told The NY Post that Hirsi plans to divorce the freshman congresswoman. The report cited a recent court filing that revealed Omar’s affair with a Washington political consultant Tim Mynett.

Mynett’s wife alleged the two were engaged in an affair in the divorce papers she filed last week however, Mynett denies such claims. Moreover, Mynett and his firm received nearly $230,000 from Omar’s campaign

The source told The Post that Omar requested the divorce while she and Hirsi were separated around March, “but Hirsi refused telling her if she wanted a divorce she should do it herself, said the source, who has known both parties for 20 years,” according to the report. A Post reporter found the couple’s home in Minnesota completely “abandoned.”

Omar’s previous marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who was allegedly her brother, ended in divorce in 2017. That marriage still haunts Omar. Earlier this year, Conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint saying there’s “credible evidence” that the two siblings married to engage in an immigration fraud scheme since Elmi was a U.K. citizen. Further, Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi while she was still married to Elmi. Omar left America in the dark and has yet to comment on her alleged affair or fraud schemes.
