Thanksgiving Is Canceled – The Planet Is Depending On Us
Cancel culture strikes again. This time Thanksgiving is the unsuspecting victim. Although perhaps the holiday should have seen it coming, after all it inspires people to travel to be with their family where they then have lavish meals featuring ghastly CO2 producing foods. GASP! Shame on Thanksgiving and shame on you for partaking in it.
Where is the eye-roll emoji when you need it? The “environmental overlords,” as Paul Joseph Watson puts it, have determined Thanksgiving has got to go and the Huffington Post breaks down for us why it would be beneficial for the planet to forego Thanksgiving traditions this year.
“Meat and meat byproducts (cheese, butter and heavy cream, for example) have a larger environmental footprint than plant-based ingredients,” whines Alexandra Emanuelli.
“According to research done by Carnegie Mellon University, the carbon footprint of a 16-pound turkey creates a total of 34.2 pounds of CO2 — the same amount produced by turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, rolled biscuits and apple pie combined.” Emanuelli further laments.
“[P]lant-based foods consistently have been shown to have lower carbon footprints — so those walnuts, chestnuts, mushrooms, etc. are far more efficient to produce in total resources than conventional animal products, especially red meat,” Oh how mouth-watering.
So it’s settled. You can keep Thanksgiving as long as you stick with plant products like appetizing mushrooms and walnuts! One other small stipulation; you also have to stay home. No traveling allowed. The HuffPost report goes on to grumble about people traveling to be with their families instead of staying home alone feeling good about saving the planet one holiday at a time.
“Researchers at Carnegie Mellon determined that four people flying a 600-mile trip produces 10 times the emissions of the Thanksgiving meal,” the report complains.
“Driving is less detrimental, but American cars emit close to a pound of CO2 per mile driven. Orchi Banerjee, a recent graduate of the department of Social and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon, said, ‘It may help the environment if [your guests] stayed home and cooked their own meal.’”
Because that should be your biggest motivation when making life decisions; how will what you are about to do affect the planet? Forget family and friends. The planet is the single most important factor in life.
This is all so completely laughable. Can you imagine what daily life must be like for climate alarmists like Alexandra Emanuelli?
Hopefully she is connected with a compassionate climate anxiety support group. Perhaps on Thanksgiving they can all get together and eat walnuts and mushrooms and pat each other on the backs.
Mark Steyn had a spot-on commentary on Tucker Carlson in which he mocked the ridiculousness of cancel culture and this latest attempt from leftists to suck all joy from life.
“‘The Huffington Post’ says you shouldn’t be taking a plane. You shall not be eating a turkey. Eating a Turkey is bad for the planet, even though it is not as bad as one of these flatulent cows that AOC wants to slaughter … instead of having a stuffed turkey, you should have some arugula stuffed with kale or kale stuffed with arugula. Makes no difference, tastes just as lousy either way,” said Steyn.
They then discussed the reality of a ruling class who believe they get to determine how the rest of us should live while they themselves do whatever they please. It’s up to us to save the planet, not them. Hypocrites.
