{UAH} WHY WASTE MONEY ON PSEUDO ONLINE ACCOUNTS?
I have never understood why some ill- equipped gov'ts in Africa, are obsessed with pseudo email addresses and accounts on Facebook. Because, even if they manage to track one's IP address, how do you know it isn't a proxy server? Most hackers or pseudo-analysts, take steps to not be so easily identified - using proxy servers, onion routing, anonymous VPN. For example, the hacking of the US Office of Personnel Management, allegedly by China, was through servers based in the States. I understand that the Russians also hacked into the US electoral system using proxies , such that it's difficult to be definite about their rigging of the elections in favour of Donald Trump.
-- Facebook has recently suspended a lot of accounts deemed to be fake, or hostile to respective governments- one isn't allowed to post in groups one doesn't manage . Hon.Nambooze, myself, and a few others, have been victims. In the long term, Facebook will lose out, as more people keep losing interest in Facebook activism. A lot of money has also, reportedly, been spent to track down the person, or people ( if you believe Andrew Mwenda's conspiracy theory), behind Tom Okwalinga Facebook account.
With a third world country, I think the money they waste on such stuff, should be better be spent on building well equipped health clinics , or libraries, in various towns in the country. We are still far in technology- that's why Facebook lives, video recording and WhatsApp audios/ videos, has excited us so much. Most bloggers using videos as a form of activism, mainly use abuses- no substance, but their messages are trending more than those that just write research- based articles. People in third world hate reading. This is different in developed countries where technology has been put to much better use.
