SEMBABULE- Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, a Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations has praised Ms Shartis Musherure, the daughter of Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa, who is aspiring to replace his father as Mawogola North County Member of Parliament, come 2021.

Gen Muhoozi, who is the son of President Yoweri Museveni, said Ms Musherure has some good attributes of a good leader.

"I am an army officer not a politician. Ms Musherure is my in-law. She is a twin sister to my wife and what I know about her is that, she is religious, trustworthy and not a thief," Gen Muhoozi said.

The first son   was speaking during the launch of "Goberera" at Sembabule Playground on Friday.

Goberera is an initiative that was started by Ms Musherure to trace and implement all projects initiated by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and his father in the area.

Mr Kutesa who is a king maker in Sembabule District politics said time has come for energetic youth like his daughter to take some leadership positions.

He asked NRM leaders to build the party structures right from the grass roots rather than looking at individuals.

"We can support individuals, but the most important office in Uganda is that of NRM village chairperson. That is the party's foundation. So, my appeal goes to all leaders to ensure that they focus more on NRM grass root structures   than individual leaders,"  Mr Kutesa said.

He thanked Gen Muhoozi for gracing a political function even though he is a serving  army officer.

"Given the nature of your job, you are not allowed to comment about politics, but what you have said is enough because you act within the law and we don't want you to break the law," he said.

"The sole purpose of today's event is inform the youth that they are duty-bound to make a follow up on service delivery and hold leaders accountable ," she said.

Ms Musherure is a lawyer by profession and is married to Dr Paul Musherure.

She is the Chief Executive Officer of her father's Mbabule FM, a local radio station based in Sembabule Town.

She returned from the US one and half years ago and settled in Sembabule District. She has used the radio station to popularise her charity activities in the community through sponsoring women development groups and youth sports activities.

Apart from Musherure, Mr Godfrey Aine Kaguta Sodo, President Museveni's younger brother eyeing the Mawogola North seat.

Mr Kutesa, 70, who has served in different ministerial positions during NRM government, has been representing Mawogola   County in Parliament since 1996. Between 1994 and 1995, Mr Kutesa served as delegate to the constituent assembly that drafted the 1995 constitution.

Before relocating to Sembabule, he served as MP for Mbarara North Constituency from 1980 to 1985.
