After missile launch, Iran leader tweets flag – like Trump did after Soleimani death

An Iranian leader tweeted a picture of his country’s flag after an airstrike on an Iraqi base housing U.S. troops in retaliation for the killing of Qassem Soleimani.

President Donald Trump posted a photo of the U.S. flag after the death of the Iranian general.

Saeed Jalili, the top nuclear negotiator for Iran, posted a picture of the Iranian flag Tuesday night as the United States learned of the attacks on Ain Assad air base, the Iraqi air base with U.S. soldiers, CNN reported.

The tweet appears to be a response to Trump’s tweet from his iPhone just days earlier.

Iranian state TV says the surface-to-air missile attacks on the Iraqi base are in retaliation for the killing of Soleimani, “whose funeral procession Tuesday in his hometown of Kerman prompted angry calls to avenge his death,” according to the Associated Press.
