The Three Gates of Speech

There is an old proverb which advises that every word coming out of our mouths should first be required to pass through three gates. Each gate has a question:
1. Is it true?
2. Is it necessary?
3. Is it kind?
The precious wisdom being expressed here is the importance of anticipating how our words are going to be received by the person with whom we are speaking. As we interact with family members, friends, colleagues, community partners, etc. today, let's try being extra mindful of what we say. Thinking first about who we are speaking to, what their needs and concerns are,
