{UAH} WHAT DO U THINK OF THIS?
By Badru Senabulya
There is always a Ugandan quoting a verse from one of the holy books or reminding you that today is Friday....Jummah and it hit me....if only we loved the country as much as we love these foreign religions, there would be progress!! But then again, I am reminded that we are only taught to cram and not think for self.....if I do my 5 prayers a day or go to church on Sunday, I can be as immoral the rest of the time....as it is not God's time! Sad but true!! I see Europeans, no matter what, country comes first!!!! We are destroying Uganda with corruption and all other ills because we dream of a promised place in a galaxy far far away....yet, if u think about it, these people that brought u these religions....how many of them really will want to share their heaven with you African??! Most Norwegians I know do not believe in God, let alone religion....in my discussions with these friends I came to a conclusion that they do believe in their ancestors! A Norwegian will say: in 450 B.C we did not have potatoes we survived on yams. (Not factual....just an example). Notice the use of WE like the fella was there at the time which connects him to the land of his forefathers and encourages him to make the country better for future generations as was done for him. On the other hand a Mugandan will say: the Baganda were gatherers but THEY did some hunting too!! That is detachment!! I am saying, while others are holding onto their history, cultural norms and thereby putting their country first, we are busy being more "religious" than the people that brought us their cultures!! Tulabye ffe abaana ba Kintu!
