EITHER BBI IS FOR KENYANS OR FOR UHURU, RAILA AND RUTO

BBI may very well turn out to be Raila Odinga's Waterloo.

If he fails to achieve anything meaningful out of it his political career will be doomed. 

BBI is also revealing the dark side of Raila that contrary to the singsong by his media brigade that he is responsible for the democratic space we now enjoy, the man has failed miserably to deepen our democratic culture. 

Instead he destroys its roots at every election cycle and insists on planting anew all over again. His Luo people are denied democratic diversity under his iron grip bolsteted by the threat of curses from Luo council of elders.

But this plus the fallout between his quondam friends in civil society and Raila over what Maina Kiai dismissed as Handcheque are more suited for another day not now.

By the way Raila got so irritated with the continous attacks on him over BBI he got his friend Gideon Moi to stop the Standard from running the weekend columns by Maina Kiai and G. Kegoro.

Makau Mutua is still gentle with him.

Over the weekend at two funerals Raila made important statements that infringe on the democratic rights of 42 million Kenyans. Bear with me, I know we are 47m as per last census. I removed the 5m Luos because they surrendered their rights of choice to Raila. By the way isnt it weird and ghoulish if I may say that Raila will talk on major national issues at funerals of all places and only in Nyanza ?

He said two things which are contestable to 42m Kenyans.

He said there is no need for BBI II to go round collecting fresh views from the people and so it should do a wrap up by March this year and a referendum be held soon after.

He said the leaders instead will engage the wananchi who will share their views with them.

He said once the BBI II folds up the process of collecting the necessary 1m signatures for a referendum will start.

Who is he fooling that the leaders will allow the wananchi to share views with them? Once Raila is on that podium with his cohorts it is a straight monologue by them with the masses reduced to cheering only. What has he so far shared with the people at the three BBI rallies held so far?

As I said he can decide for 5m Luos plus one Kalenjin lawyer who says he will leave Raila and Uhuru to read the BBI I report for Kenyans.

No way. The BBI I report must be printed and given to the people to read and write. Why did we go to school?

Then the question of 1m signatures for referendum.

The Constitution makes it clear how the President is elected namely by 50% +1 vote from all regions.

Raila can get 1m signatures in 48 hours but you can bet they wont be from the majority of the 47m Kenyans in all 8 regions.

The 1m will be mainly from his Luos assisted by Kisii and Luhya neighbours. They are not the face of Kenya.

Raila made history when he got Uhuru's August 8 2017 election nullified on technical grounds.

His referendum push can also be nullified the same way in technical grounds and a fresh one involving all 42 tribes ordered.
