There is no doubt that almost everyone wants the cure immediately but unfortunately, until yesterday, only  trials were still being conducted. In the USA leading doctors from the CDC and all the as per chairperson of American Medical Association, Dr Harris statement, categorically deny that the drug was effective though it was still being tried, side effects not determined and that it will take time before any conclusions would be made, therefore it had not been cleared for treatment. When asked if she would recommend it to a patient with Covid-19 who asks  her to prescribe it,she stated that she would not as trials were not conclusive. 

So, the drug though it may be effective has not been cleared by USA's FDA as a cure by Sunday April 5, 2020 9:00PM (EST) much as President Trump is urged doctors to try saying, " What do you have to lose?"  If it has been proven working, there is a way that research findings are communicated by researchers, not by politicians, if anything president Trump seems to be leaking research findings which undermines the work but anyway he admits that he is not a doctor. 

Until then, let us follow the health guidelines much as it is boring staying indoors for others but for me, it is good especially when coupled with a promise of my safety.

The malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is the best coronavirus drug currently available, according to an international poll of thousands of doctors.

Of 6,200 physicians surveyed from 30 countries, the majority (37 per cent) said it was the 'most effective therapy' for the virus.

But the World Health Organization (WHO) claims that 'there is no evidence' that any medicine 'can prevent or cure the disease'.

With a spiralling crisis and no cure in sight, doctors in Europe, the US and China have been given licence to prescribe the promising drug to COVID-19 patients.

But the UK has prevented clinicians from dishing out hydroxychloroquine – a form of chloroquine – until clinical trials are completed.

Chloroquine (CQ), branded as Aralen, and counterpart hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), known as Plaquenil, are well-established medicines.

They are also prescribed on the NHS to treat rheumatoid arthritis and lupus and have been used since the 1940s.
