{UAH} How do you think Trump will react when (not if: it will happen) one of his COVID-19 team tests positive? Will he "stick and stay," or will he "cut and run?"

Kelly Shwitzer.. Civil engineer PA

Trump is a malignant Narcissist. The standard Narcissist playbook is:

Step One - "It didn't happen." (Deny and obfuscate.) When a close associate becomes positive, Trump will deny it happened or deny he had any contact with that person, even if there is photographic evidence to the contrary.

Step Two - "It isn't as bad as everyone says." Minimize and gaslight.) When a close associate becomes ill, Trump will insist it is a mild case or deny that they are actually infected with the Corona-virus that causes Covid-19.

Step Three - "It's not my fault." (Scapegoat and deflect the blame.) When a close associate becomes ill, Trump will claim that it is a personal attack; that a perceived enemy has deliberately infected tge associate in order to "get" Trump. At no point will he show any compassion for the ill associate or even the perception that the associate or their family has feelings of their own; everything always has to be about him.

Step Four - "I didn't mean it." (Claim innocence and persecution, claim good intentions, say it was all a mistake.) I doubt if Trump will reach this point during the pandemic because he will never accept the blame for the Administration's chaotic response.

Step Five - "If I did mean it, you deserved it." (Blame the victim.) Trump may skip step four entirely, and just start blaming the people who become ill, are permanent damaged by the virus or killed by it. He will say it is their own fault for not being healthy (like him?), or blame state and local officials for not doing more, despite the fact that *HE* is supposed to be in charge. As a Narcissist, Trump is eager to claim all of the credit (especially for things he did not have a part in), and even more eager to deflect all of the blame and any criticism on to anyone else.

Trump will probably follow these steps even if *HE* was the one infected - first denial, then minimization, then attacking others for his illness and claiming one of his perceived enemies infected him deliberately, but not moving on to steps four or five. He will be the sickest person in the entire world, will be suffering more that anyone else has ever suffered, and when (or if) he recovers, it will be solely because *HE* is so healthy and strong - he will not credit the doctors or medical staff at all.

That is how Trump will react to the pandemic affecting someone he knows because it is the same way he reacts to everything.
