{UAH} 3PM--The Prosecution's Case in the George Floyd Murder Case discussed on WBAI's "Black Star News Show"
WBAI Black Star News Show: Prosecution's Strategy in George Floyd's Murder Examined
Tune in today to WBAI New York 99.5 FM (www.wbai.org) at 3PM as Milton Allimadi host of "Black Star News Show" discusses with media law professor Candace Kelly the extrajudicial public execution of George Lynch by Derek Chauvin the racist former Minneapolis police officer.
Professor Kelley says while prosecutors have a strong case it's by no means a slam dunk. Hear what she has to say about the weak complaint initially filed by the District Attorney in Minneapolis before State Attorney General Keith Ellison took control of the case.
Ellison upgraded charges to second degree murder against Chauvin. His three accomplices have also been arrested and charged.
Allimadi asks Professor Kelley if charges can be raised to first degree murder if it's established that Chauvin had some animus toward Floyd arising from when the two both reportedly worked as bouncers in the same night club.
Professor Kelley talks about the ongoing national uprisings in the context of the continuation of the civil rights struggle. She offers her suggestions about what needs to be done to reform the nation's 80,000 police departments and has some advice for New York's mayor Bill de Blasio.
The hosts currently can't broadcast from in studio due to Covid-19 lockdown and today's program is an abbreviated show.
