{UAH} WHAT'S THE LESSON/MESSAGE FROM CORVID-19? (Photo)

Suddenly security of persons is a far greater value than democracy, human rights, elections, freedom, religion, infrastructure development, food security and economic growth combined. And this time the enemy is a tiny virus. It has made public health the lead policy over every other government function. Even the military is reduced in significance and the so-called frontline is now doctors and health workers in hospitals instead of armed forces, fighter jets and bombs.
Who could possibly foresee that we would all live to see all this? Even the so-called "worlds greatest democracies" have suddenly become police states shutting down their countries, and forcing everyone to stay at home or get arrested, beaten or shot dead like the innocent Ugandan headmaster Eric Mutasiga (RIP) who was murdered by the state to save him from getting killed by Corvid-19.
We have seen leaders summarily destroying their own economies, enforcing lockdowns and curfews, closing all borders and all air travel, making their own people loose their jobs, cancelling peoples liberties, freedom of assembly, right to work and even the peoples freedom of worship.
Suddenly all the human rights organizations and the so-called right-thinking citizens and political activists have all shut up. None are outraged by any of this "brutal authoritarianism & dictatorship". In fact everybody is now very understanding and compliant to decrees, directives and so-called "guidelines".
Also suddenly all those international NGO's who for decades have been claiming to be helping Africa out of poverty, disease and misery, have all fled back to their countries. Basically declaring without shame that it's now "Everyone for himself".
This tiny Corona virus and everything that has resulted from the pandemic must be having a humongous message to humanity. And particularly us in African countries who always dance to everyone else's tune. If only people had the brains and the courage to face what that message is.
