{UAH} Why Joshua Ekol, Dr Wana Etyem’s son is vying for northern youth MP seat

Lira—30, May 2020: Another youth MP aspirant has joined the race for northern youth MP seat on NRM ticket. The seat is currently held by Mr Oscar Omwony, who is a son to Brig Charles Otema Awany.
Mr Johusa Mandela Ekol is son to an academician, Dr Engineer Wana Etyem who was a former chairperson Makerere University governing council.
Ekol, on Friday donated one ton of maize flour to Lira district youths structure in a bid to help them cope with life during the current partial lockdown because of the COVID -19 pandemic.
The northern youth MP hopeful handed over his donation to youth leaders at Uganda Technical College (UTC) Lira and the Office of the Resident District Commissioner [RDC] Lira, Mr Milton Odongo.
"I am from Barr sub-county, Lira district. I am your own and I have also established Bar Investments Limited. The posho I am donating to you is part of the initiative of Bar Women's Group, another group that I support," Mr Ekol told the youth at UTC Lira.
He also urged the youth to embrace agriculture which is a major source of economic livelihood in northern Uganda and equally asks them to be responsible youth by observing the measures put in place by government to contain COVID -19
Before the distribution, RDC Odongo as usual made a powerful prayer touting his boss, President Museveni and his government for the endless fight against coronavirus and bringing development. He told the youth to vote for NRM in the coming elections.
While handing over the relief posho to the youths, Mr Odongo commended Ekol for supporting his fellow youths at a critical time when many people are starving.

Odongo who's the chairperson of the district task force on COVID-19 urged the youth to embrace unity among themselves and to take a lead in observing measures aimed at taming COVID-19
Sam Engola, former state minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development also attended the function where he commended Ekol for his love for development.
Mr Engola, who's also the Lira district NRM party chairperson also doubling as national vice chairperson NRM in charge northern Uganda, said all the political aspirants must have the spirit of supporting others and to emulate what Ekol has done.
"My intention to contest came following many challenges youth in northern Uganda are encountering," Mr Ekol told our Lira based Reporter, Jimmy K Olot.
"I'm looking at extending the same support to all the youth structures in Northern Uganda," he added.
