{UAH} Democracy must be practiced.

By Ronald Muhinda
Democracy must be practiced. But you know it's hard to try listen to people you disagree with.
It's even harder to establish a democratic culture if your understanding of democracy is abstract.
Obviously FDC is not the finest political party, but it has established a democratic culture that makes FDC the best democratic political institution/organization/party in Uganda today and in the future.
And whether FDC captures power or not, there will never a political organization/party/Institution that will achieve a quarter of the democratic values that Najjanankumbi party espouses.
And its because as years go by, the democratic space at the National level and internally in organizations, keeps shrinking.
The reason is because many people who sing about democracy actually don't understand it, and end up infecting those they work with.
To that extent, FDC leaders, even if they wanted to be undemocratic, FDC members in the Party structures, to the greatest extent, know how to exercise their democratic rights and restrain leaders leaders who may want to move away from what the party stands for. And so they force democracy onto the leaders.
At the moment, I am an FDC supporter. But if there's any political organization I want it's membership, it's FDC.
First of all, I believe in rights in their totality, including right to abuse and disagree with me. That is why I don't block people on Social media.
Similarly, FDC will be ridiculed, undermined, blackmailed and fought but the party remains open to everyone.
Those who abuse, fight, blackmail and undermine FDC know that when you return to the party, the door will not be closed on you.
And those people know the FDC members have a mission and objective to change a country and her people and not the leaders that exploit it's generosity.
Some who cannot build organisations with charismatic fighters to fight on- a very costly enterprise -make attempts to weaken the party by sowing confusion in the gullible public.
FDCs strength is in its foundation. Like democracy, the party was nurtured.
