Medicinal uses:
1. Corchorus olitorius being rich in vitamins and minerals generally promotes good health and well-being.
2. Since it is rich in vitamin A it can provide health benefits for good eyesight.
3. Corchorus olitorius contains vitamin E and other antioxidants. It is said to prevent wrinkles and promote youthful looking skin.
4. Corchorus olitorius is used to treat inflammation and pain such as arthritis , headache, stomach ache and others.
5. Corchorus olitorius being rich in fiber helps to control blood pressure, cholesterol build-up, diabetes and prevents heart disease.
6. Corchorus olitorius leaves are rich in fiber and its slimy consistency when cooked is used to treat various digestive problems such as diarrhea, stomach ache, dysentery, constipation and ulcers.
7. It is also claimed that together with other herbs it can cure cancer.
8. C. olitorius is used for female fertility.
9. It is used to treat heart failure, diarrhea, thyphoid fever, colic, and child malnutrition .
10. It is also used in the treatment of diabetes.
11. Its leaves are used as a remedy for liver diseases.

Corchorus olitorius herbal tea preparation and dosage:
1. Gather fresh Corchorus olitorius leaves then air dry
2. Boil half a cup of dried Corchorus olitorius leaves to a liter of water
3. Let it seep for 10 minutes
4. Remove from heat
5. Strain solids
6. Drink while warm 3 - 4 glasses a day for best results.
NB: Corchorus olitorius is considered safe for pregnant women and breast feeding mothers when taken in food.
