{UAH} Simon : Humility does not cost a dime
Several years ago, I happened to attend a bakiga get together somewhere in Bugolobi, at one of my maternal uncle's home, an electrical engineer by trade. He is kind of very arrogant, very crude and minces no words, and a diehard congressman (UPC) who never had any love for NRM. He calls them kondos. There were quite some very interesting people that included, Kanyeihamba Mutebile, Suruma etc
Sir George likes to pride himself as being extremely learned. Soon he was bragging how he was proud to be part of the team that wrote what will be the best constitution ever according to him. That was after that 1995 constitution was promulgated.
"Rubbish" my uncle interjected and reminded him that it was just a piece of worthless paper and that before ink dries up it will have been shredded. Sir George went on to tell us that it was carefully crafted and that it would be very difficult for anyone to temper with it.
By this time my uncle was a bit tipsy, he had had enough of the NRM nonsense. He asked George how much he trusted M7, You should have been there to hear the praises George heaped on M7. Anyway my uncle just told him good luck and assured him that "oraba orandabaho"… literally meaning that we shall see. I will not repeat the words spoken but not very kind words were exchanged.
Fast forward; I saw Sir George crying real tears how the constitution had been raped. That all the time and money spent blah blah blah. I remembered my uncle telling him that being very leaned does not really mean that you are clever. Here was a modestly educated man but street smart, who drove the country into a bloodbath, then made use of the best brains to achieve his own goals after which he discarded them without much ado. George was one of the many.
To date he still uses them and discards them as he wishes. Funny thing is Ugandans never learn yet he does the same thing over and over. It's like he bewitched Ugandans.
The reason I bring this story is some time ago I had a showdown with one self-aggrandizing forumist who is fond of rubbishing every one and as if he is the only educated one who went to school and learnt-it-all while others, it was a waste of time. He lives in a coocoland. I led him down into cesspool and he followed suit. Imagine in the real world, I would have dragged him to my killing zone and handed him a rope to hang himself. Whom would he blame? Even when I finally stated "mission accomplished" he never got the message.
Humility does not cost much as a matter of fact it's free. I don't understand why some people have useless attitudes. Seeing Kanyehamba crying on TV that he had been fooled made me think twice about how one conducts himself. I feel sorry for such people but perhaps they deserve what they get!
