{UAH} To some of you Uganda journalists,
By Wafula Oguttu
To some of you Uganda journalists,
Your reports are once again awash with negative coverage about FDC , almost similar to what you did during the last elections.
Some of you predicted the collapse of the Party after the principled disagreement the FDC /CP/ TJ election platform had with the GoForward platform.
The people of Uganda later proved you wrong with their millions of votes for FDC, perhaps, to your disappointment.
Now you are talking to those who are telling you that they are quiting FDC because of "problems in Najjanankumbi" , "problems in FDC".
Good journalism will require you to intoragate and uncover those problems for your various audiences and at the same time get answers from FDC leaders. You do not that. Why?
Editors, do your work as gatekeepers with objectivity and fairness, in a balanced manner. Otherwise come out clean and declare your sides so that your audiences are sure of what to expect from you as we do with the NV.
Then there is the on-going Mukula's tasteless gymnastics of "FDC members crossing" to NRM!
It is a pity that you do not want to inquire into this taxpayers Shs12bn humiliating campaign of buying and renting support of impoverished and volunerable Ugandans. He pays them a few shillings and maybe as a good merchant makes good profits.
We know that some of the people "crossing"are doing so for the second or third time. Some are NRM members "getting something".
Some of the MPs saying that they are leaving now actually did so over two years ago as was reported in the media then.
Some of your political stories verge to propaganda or advertorials not good journalism.
Why is it hard to put backgrounds to your stories ?
Why is it hard for you to get the official position of FDC on the unending allegations before you publish ?
Why are some of you helping the junta to destroy organized political opposition, as promised in 2016, to abort our national democratic struggle?
Are you not aware that journalism thrives more under democracy than under dictatorship?
