{UAH} VOTER EDUCATION

By Edris Kiggundu

I have seen some aspirants saying they will stand on the People Power ticket in the next election.

In truth, they are lying.

The general assumption by some voters (and I think some aspiring candidates) is that come polling day, all they will have to do is to tick against someone with the label or symbol of 'People Power' against their name, the same way they do for candidates of parties like DP, FDC, UPC, JEEMA or NRM.

They will be in for a shock.

Currently 'People Power' is a pressure group just as Ssubi 2011 or Go Forward was in 2016.

Until it is formally registered as a political party/organisation, those aspiring to run under its banner, including Bobi Wine, will have to do so as "Independent" candidates as Amama Mbabazi did in 2016.

This means that the candidates will have multiple symbols as all independent candidates do.

And believe me, this will create confusion among the voters.

This is my small contribution to "voter education."
