{UAH} UGANDA: THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING PROUD OF ONE’S TRIBE OR HERITAGE

Of late, Uganda has been awash with sentiments bent on diluting people's minds and getting away from the truth of the matter that whereas we have different backgrounds and ethnicities, the polarisation and tribalism which is slowly turning into hate is a handiwork of the dictatorship led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has failed to come to terms with his personal history and background and he is trying to create a dynasty of sorts for himself by diluting the indigenous peoples and trying hard to portray the Baganda as sectarian.
Any individual who is 100% sure of his roots will always be proud of his roots, I don't think there is anything wrong with Baganda whose history dates back to thousands of years being proud of their culture thus their constant reference to the phrase "Ffe nga Abaganda". And likewise, I personally would see nothing wrong with a Japadhola from Tororo whose identity lies largely referenced to the great Tor'Oro rock, or the Bagisu who are famous for their kadodi style dance and the Imbalu celebrations. Let's all embrace our cultures and historical traditions and backgrounds with pride.
It is the disparity in the distribution of the so-called national cake that has ignited this debate and let no one threaten us that we have no right to speak about our cultures and tribes. It is only when we use one tribe against the other that we see a problem. Recently the comic outfit, the Bizonto, were arrested for merely speaking the obvious albeit in an entertaining manner.
During a recent TV interview, the Mukono Municipality member of Parliament, Hon.Betty Bakireke Namboze, questioned the system within the ruling NRM as to why they would choose to front non indigenous Baganda to represent Buganda region. When such obvious questions are asked, the dictatorship retorts that those are enemies of Buganda/Uganda blah blah blah. For how long are we going to be fed with such garbage of cesspool proportions merely to massage the ego of individuals who are bent on erasing our heritage and values?
Granted, man by nature will instinctively be drawn towards people or races of his kind, but there is a deliberate attempt by certain groups of people who are trying very hard to disenfranchise the indigenous people and make them beggars in their own communities and this attempt must be treated with the contempt it deserves. In Uganda now we have almost more than 30% inter tribal marriages and it is absolutely absurd that we have a leadership that is hiding behind such vices and, in their contempt, they portray us who speak our minds as tribalists. I will always cherish my roots and it is evident that those who cannot trace their roots two generations behind are the ones creating the current hullabaloo about the "Ffe nga Abaganda" tirades.
If I wanted to explain the ways of the Jopadhola people it's only logical for me to phrase it most likely as "We the Jopadhola" and if such a statement makes me tribal then so be it. At least I know that I am the son of the late Canon Mika Omalla of Buyemba Osukuru and the grandson of Andereya Oboth Aripa, and the great grandson of Aripa Ketta. I know where their graves are and I will not make any apologies for saying so. People who do not know their true origins, or would rather hide their origins, will want to make you hate yours but you should always be proud of who you are.
All this, I have said, FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY.
