{UAH} WHY OFHONO OPONDO IS A SUSPECT IN THE ALLEGED ATTACK ON HIS RESIDENCE
By CHANGE OF GUARDS
"My home in Nashville is said to be under attack by unknown assailants. Am out of home and lost contact with family members."
In another tweet shortly after, he claimed that the said assailants were still inside his residence and that the police was already outside.
"Assailants said to be many and with machetes in my bedroom and compound. Police is outside have not yet entered."
The above tweets were sent while Opondo was heading to the city for a live Talk show on NBS Television. Upon arrival in the studio, the same Opondo who was visibly composed briefly narrated what was happening at his residence to the viewers. He said that the said assailants were also armed with guns and that he had been informed by one of his daughters from inside the residence. He further disclosed that he had alerted the police who rushed to his residence and was yet to know the outcome. However, he remained composed and actively participated in the talk show up to midnight without any interruptions.
Today, September 11, 2020. the police issued a statement to the effect that Opondo's residence had been attacked by two machete wielding men whose faces were masked. That they had entered through the unguarded main gate before finding his wife and two daughters in the sitting room. That they had forced them into the master bedroom where they broke into the wardrobes from where they picked his wife's handbag that contained 30,000 shillings (about USD 8) and her Nokia mobile phone. That they had taken off before the police arrived and had not injured anyone. The said phone is said to have been
dropped a short distance from the crime scene. No arrest has been done so far and the police is stuck in trying to establish the motive.
The following questions deserve answers:
1. Who on earth can continue to the TV station and participate in a talk show when his family is under attack by assailants?
2. How come Opondo's residence is not guarded by the army and police? Is his residence not secured by CCTV cameras?
3. How come the attackers let Opondo's daughter use her phone to alert her father?
4. Why did the assailants have to break into the wardrobes yet they could have ordered their hostages to open them?
5. Other than shillings 30,000 (about USD 8) and a simple Nokia phone, are there no other portable valuables and electronics that the said assailants could have carried away?
6. Why didn't the police use its dogs to track the fleeing assailants?
Around 2nd July 2020, robbers allegedly attacked the Chinese owned plastic factory in Komamboga, in Kampala city. That they jumped over the perimeter fence using a rope before disarming and tying up the two police guards. That the assailants proceeded to the office of the General Manager whom they threatened to shoot before he led them to the strong room where they took off with shillings 16m, an Airtel Sim Card that had Shillings 4m credit. That they took off with a flat screen TV set, office computers and and the CCTV drive but left the two guns belonging to the police guards.
This was another dramatic incident that left many questions hanging.
However, in this second incident it's quite clear that the alleged attackers had either connived with the two police guards and if not, they were highly trained security personnel in the art of commandos and obstacle crossing skills. The Opondo incident was either a hoax meant to blackmail the Museveni regime by the former heavyweight UPC Youth Winger who has for sometime been disgruntled and if true, then he could have been one of the hooded so-called attackers. With Museveni's Uganda, anything is possible.
