{UAH} THE FUTURE OF NUP WILL BE DEFINED TOMORROW
Tomorrow is a particularly important day for the future of the National Union Party (NUP). I won't talk about the specifics of the court case because it's illegal—it is called CONTEMPT OF COURT.
For now, I would only say that the ball is in Bobi Wine court, but the truth is his balls are in Museveni's fist—he can crush them any time he wants, or if he wants to. Museveni knew that with Bobi's ego and self-interests, he would find Kibalama's offer of a party more attractive than the offers from established parties, such as FDC, DP, JEEMA, and others, and he wasn't wrong.
So, when Ronald Kasirivu, the LC5 Councilor representing Gombe Town Council, reportedly approached Bobi about a deal from Kibalama, I am sure the former smiled in a 'rabada' style. As they say, a charging bull always looks at the red cape, not at the man with a sword. Now, they are in court and we wait for the outcome in a few hours. I hope it works out for them-- because I don't wish anything bad to anybody.
The raid on NUP offices yesterday and the removal of Bobi'S posters from Kampala streets was about closing situations and testing the resolve of NUP supporters. Museveni isn't the type to let the dogs out on the streets for a long time—at some point, a bad dog has to be put down. He also wanted to see how much a fight is left in those claiming to be supporting Bobi, but as in Besigye's case over the years, supporters usually just look on.
All dictators operate like doctors—they press and press till when they see where the pain comes from. Yesterday was a painful day for NUP( as it has been for FDC on several occasions) but I suspect we are yet to see more painful moments.
As for the raid, I condemn it because it does not portray Uganda in a good way, though it confirms the darkness that is looming on the country.
