{UAH} WHAT DO YOU LEARN FROM THIS NKUBA KYEYO STORY?

By 'Name withheld'
It started one day when I felt ,I got an idea of going for kyeyo abroad to make ends meet. A friend connected me and thank God everything went on as planned. I reached Canada and got a job and I was earning like $450 per month ,at that time, the dollar rate was 3000 ug shs. That money wasn't enough for me to fulfill my dreams but it was OK as a starter. After 6 months of working, I got a message from my sister that ,there was a plot a neighbor was selling at 6.5m. At that time, I badly needed investment projects. I tried all possible ways and sent the money. My sister ,brother and mum called and assured me on how they had bought the plot. I was very happy to get my first asset. Later a friend connected me to a company that employed me but needed some information . I was requested to come back and get proper documents which I did.

I set off to Uganda with out telling mum, sister and my brother coz I wanted it to be a surprise. They were all shocked to see me but looked worried especially mum. When I reached, the first thing to ask was a plot and my mum told me to be patient she will take me there. The next day ,i was busy and didn't ask her anything . On the third day,I asked them only to get a shock of my life. Mbu by the time I sent the money, the plot had already been taken and they feared to tell me. What annoyed me, instead they divided the money to start there businesses I felt betrayed by my own family.

I had nothing to do but to keep quiet and move on. I completed all the paper work and went back to Canada. Still I needed a running business here in Uganda so I contacted my senga after hearing piggery works better. She encouraged me to plan and we start. I sent money for building the house and buying 4 piglets. Mine were 3 and I bought for senga 1pig all were females expecting to get the male from the neighborhood. Every thing went on well and after 6 months, the pigs produced each 12 totalling to 36 piglets. After one month, I told senga to sell 28 piglets I remain with 8. In that place,a piglet was 80k x 28=2,240,000ug shs. My dia Facebook friends,I didn't get any money. I tried calling aunt, she didn't pick my calls ,blocked me. Her kids also blocked me on all social media platforms. That's how I ended up in a loss.

I decided not to trust any one but keep my money . In 2018,I joined a watsup group called Divine ,in this group,I found a woman ( she refused I don't mention her name) let me call her aunt D. She was giving many business ideas and to be sincere, I liked her so much coz she inspired me. I kept on following her and I got tempted to start something. I decided to go for a suicide mission of sending my money to this woman to save for me in a certain village sacco she told me about. When I contacted her about the proposal, she was shocked for someone to trust her without knowing her physically but she accepted.

I started sending her the money as she saves it in a Sacco. Besides the job I was doing, I got a part time job ,working in the evening for 2 hours. We kept on communicating and getting different business ideas to start on. This year Jan 23rd 2020 , I came back to Uganda. After visiting mum, I went to look for aunt D at her place 220kms from Kampala. My heart was pumping so fast expecting the worst coz I didn't even know her. I said many prayers to get good news coz i had given her 12m . At around 4:30pm, I reached and got a very good welcome as if they were waiting for some one important. After so many hugs and greetings, I was taken to the guest room.

We ate supper naye the food was not going what I wanted was to know I f my money was there. At 9:00 pm she came to my room and told me ,we.shall talk tomorrow since she was very tired. I felt bad to be sincere I didn't sleep thinking about the worst. In the morning, she came and greeted me but told me to relax we shall talk later. She went to her farm and they came back at around 11 pm. I became impatient thinking oba she was buying time my money wasn't there???? After lunch,we sat down and aunt D brought a big counter book. She first asked me how much I was expecting I said 12m and she said no that's not the money. I brought messages on how I was sending the money, she checked in her book and indeed she had recorded every coin 12m.

Bamaama , this is what happened, after sending 5m, aunt D got this money and started lending it to people with emergencies at a very low interest rate of 5% per month. This means,if she gave 5m out to different people, at the end of the month ,the money would give a profit of 250,000shs. This money looks small but if its taken to a bank, they would just chop off ur money. Out of 250k,aunt D would take 100k and keeps 150k for me as my magoba. She did this for 16 months i.e 150,000x16= 2,400,000sh. The balance of 7m was deposited in a ka sacco and I managed to get like 1,150,000shs profits since it was being lent out. Look here members, I expected 12m I sent to aunt D but I got 15,550,000shs. I became speechless and tears started rolling down my cheeks. I thought I was dreaming but it was a reality. I got this money mainly from my side hassle not salary but I was very happy. When I opened her book,I realized I wasn't the only one who trusted her but even other 4 people. I wanted to build rentals but she told me to wait ayiiye a business idea.

The next day, aunt D took me somewhere around 3km from her home. We met an old man who talked to her that ' things are still available'. Which things???? This woman took me to this old man to buy land ,an acre was 4m . She persuaded me to buy that land and instead of one I decided to buy 2 acres . Remember this place is 220km from Kampala and my home town is 80km from Kampala, that's 300km from here to my home town. She advised me that Uganda is a small country and no distance is too much.

After buying my 2 acres and obtaining all the necessary documents, I was the happiest person on earth. I later came back to Kampala to plan for my going back nga booooomu Covid 19. I got stuck and my aunt D called me to the village we plan. I went and she advised me to clear the bush, plant 1 acre of gnuts and 1 acre of beans. Seeds were expensive but I tried , beans I planted the white ones in April. In June ,I harvested 1500kg of beans and gnuts 22 sacks still with pods. From beans,I sold at 2000 shs a kilo and got 3,000,000shs and the cost was 920,000sh( bush clearing, ploughing 2 times, seeds, planting , weeding etc). Gnuts, I sold at 140,000shs per sack x 20 =2,800,000shs and the cost was 970,000shs. In a addition, aunt D advised me to rent 2 acres of land which I did and planted maize. I harvested 4400 kg and sold at 540 a kilo and got 2,376,000shs and the cost was 1,230,000shs. I got a profit of 1,146,000 shs. Now from this covid farming, I used 3,120,000shs as start up capital and I got 5,056,000 ug shs. Waoooo this has made me the happiest ever. I forgave my mum and my siblings and decided to move on.

Right now ,I have planted 1.5 acres of beans which are at flowering stage,1 acre of gnuts which are 1 month old,4 acres of maize are also 1 month old. I thank God for giving me aunt D as a walking stick, guardian angel and a shoulder to lean on. Sometimes I fail to get words to appreciate her. May God bless her for me. I don't even think that I wish to go back for kyeyo coz the money I saved from my salary is still intact . Am looking around to see what to invest in. In this place, aunt D has taken me to visit many farmers who started small and are now big e.g a certain man started with on pig but now has 220 pigs in two yrs. Kisoboka! I call upon all those to look for it guardian angels and start ur journey for success. To those who are still stuck, get up and start ur journey to success. Good luck!
