An Open letter to Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi by Muhimbise George.*

 

Dear Hon Dr  Chris Baryomunsi. I greet you in the name of our Lord. I know this letter might annoy you since facts are ever bitter but most importantly as a medical doctor you know that medicine that is meant to cure can be sour. Therefore I beg that you understand me & forgive me in case you get annoyed.

 

I write to you with deep pain & bleeding in my heart because of the words recently attributed to you about kidnapping of Ugandans. You were quoted to have said that the people who were  claimed to have been kidnapped were busy sleeping in lodges with women.

 

You shamelessly said this on a national television, in the face of miserable mothers whose breadwinners were kidnapped, the helpless women whose whereabouts of their husbands was a mystery  & they don't know what to do next,  how heartless could  you be to make such a statement? A whole of you & a christian, oh my God!  Even if you were indeed brainwashed to whatever extent or indeed you got drank with power, even a good drankard would remain with some basic knowledge to take him back home!

 

An envy of all, once an intellectual, you chose to sell your soul for pieces of silver in form of a ministerial position & you since exchanged your brain for political power & Intellectual dishonesty became your trade mark!

 

I remember your intellectual debates during the death of Hon Cerina Nebanda, how you challenged government officials who wanted to carry out a postmortem in South Africa to mask their political embarrassment then!

 

Late Serina Nebanda was one of the NRM but independent minded MPs of which you belonged & we were proud of you. You stood out as a man of substance, a patriot, an intellectual, & indeed you gave value to education. In you & a group of other " NRM rebel MPs" we saw a generation that was inspiring others, a generation that gave us hope, a team in which the future Uganda was to be redeemed. We saw a team of people that carried heads with brains & not pumpkins.

 

Today with your current speeches, you stand out as a statue of what you used to be, you stand out as a shadow of your own, you are an embarrassment to humanity & a loss to Ugandans!

 

These days I see you commenting on each & every issue that comes out as if you are the government spokesperson, just like a balloon moving by wind direction.  The other day I saw you lambasting the European Union over suspension of aid to Uganda. When i looked at Baryomunsi from Kanungu lambasting European Union, I just saw a picture of a house fly chasing a lion & I said the gods must be crazy!

 

The powerful & long serving minsiters like Sam Kutesa, Ruhakana Rugunda, Ephraim Kamuntu, Kahinda Otafiire etc are silently feasting on their carcass (Uganda) & a mere state Minister of housing who perhaps didn't even hunt, moreover holding the smallest ministry that even has no budget wants to become an authority on everything when the real owners of government are in hiding? Did I hear that the emptiest tins make the loudest noise, oh maybe I guess am wrong!

 

Is it because Amama Mbabazi who used to be your political rival in Kanungu District is likely to bounce back in perhaps a more powerful ministry that you are now expressing your psychophancy to the powers that be so that your meal card can be sustained in the next cabinet?

 

Did I read some media reports where your body guard was being accused of shooting at a supporter of your rival camp in Kanungu during the recently concluded elections?

 

Dr Baryomunsi, before it's too late for you, do a soul searching & ask yourself where the real Baryomunsi who was created in God's image go, not this one that appears to be satanic. Ask yourself how did Dr Baryomunsi who boasts of a PHD start reasoning like a UPE dropout?

 

Dr Baryomunsi, look at some of the examples of once powerful, royal cadres & blue eyed boys end before you open your mouth to speak! The likes of Gen Kayihura, Dr Besigye, Gen Muntu, Gen Tumukunde,  Gen Sejusa, Bidandi Sali, Miria Matembe, Hope Mwesigye, Kabakumba Masiko, Dr Wandira Kazibwe, Dr Ezra Suruma, Prof Kanyeihamba etc were more powerful than you but today none of them is still defending NRM

 

The bakiga say that what forces out an old dog from the fire place can not entertain a puppy, logic would tell you that you can never be powerful than the above mentioned. By the way do you remember Hon Henry Banyenzaki, the once vocal MP who was compromised by a ministry only to serve for a few years & he was both rejected by the voters & dumped by Museveni!

 

You are even unlucky that you have entered this government in it's evenings, it will collapse on your head & you will carry the blame & hate for it's failures of 35 years for the rest of your life when you have even eaten nothing.

 

May God open your head.
