As Ghanaian quote says, " A woman is a flower in a garden; her husband is the fence around it."

In Dinka/Jieeng culture - South Sudan, despite their marriage being expensive (100 - 500 cows) women are treated like gods. Once a man gets married, his wife will not cook or touch anything like a broom to sweep the floor for about 3 years. They called this period "nyuuc". That period is meant for her to rest, relax and enjoy as she grow more beautiful. Her husband's sisters will be helping her in house works like cooking, sweeping, collecting firewood, fetching water and garden work. In the evening hours she will meet other brides and roam around in beautiful wears. Later her husband will decide and arrange a big party and slaughter a cow or goats to celebrate welcoming party (thät) again. His wife will start to cook for the family and they rejoice. This is how love can be expressed to the new bride in Dinka culture.
