{UAH} Business Experience Vs Professional/Execution Experience

Business Experience vs. Professional/Execution Experience.

So many time I have handled a number of big ICT projects through the companies I have worked with. I have delivered and executed professionally and to the satisfaction of my clientele. Whenever such business requirements are generated by the customers, one of the terms of references is experience in supplying, delivering, installing, maintenance and support for the proposed solutions as a company.

In Uganda and especially in my subsector of ICT and I guess also in construction and many others, most of these companies we work for are owned by foreign investors but the actual work is in most cases done by indigenous Ugandans and they do gain a lot of valuable experience in doing so.

A number of times and so many as such, these experienced indigenous Ugandans leave these companies and start their own to use the acquired experience and connections in the spirit of BUBU to look for business opportunities in the market and especially targeting the same customers they used to service while still at their previous employment.

However, so many times these professionals have always met objections by way of being told that their new start ups have no experience in providing the same services the individual owners of these start up had been providing for so many years!

I find this very discouraging and keeping Ugandans professionally caged by these so called foreign investors, sadly being encouraged by even some government institutions, which refuse to take services by these professional experienced Ugandans who come up and out to start the same business! Is BUBU just on paper and mere words?

PPDA should look into this and address it. Buyers should look beyond the lack of experience of the newly registered companies and consider the experiences and professionalism of the people behind them.

Once these start ups are supported by being given business opportunities, they will create more employment directly and indirectly; they will expand grow the tax base for more government revenue. And so many other economic and financial advantages will come out of such support.

A nice weekend to all hustlers and those who support your hustle.
