{UAH} THE DOWNTRODDEN MUST BE DEFENDED, NOT MADE FUN OF!

THE DOWNTRODDEN MUST BE DEFENDED, NOT MADE FUN OF!
Joan Namatovu is a woman fighting for the shared custody of her 10 year old child. She is a woman fighting for her rights!
Unfortunately, and like is always the case, the media and many Ugandans have taken to making fun of Joan. They have picked on her interview, turned it around and made her a laughing stalk.
The reality of the matter is that Joan Namatovu was an employee of 'Hon Pastor' Peter Ssematimba. Peter Ssematimba chose to violate her rights as an employee and sexually molested her to his own benefit which led to her getting pregnant and giving birth to a child.
As if violating her Employment Rights by sexually abusing her was not enough, Ssematimba now wants to take away her Right to parental custody.
In this, Peter Ssematimba has found allies in the callous people who have chosen to take Joan's plea as a source of fun and laughter.
How insensitive can we be as a country?
The culture of looking down on a section Ugandans who are Downtrodden because they are maids is pervasive and ugly.
If Joan Namatovu was a strong and wealthy or popular woman, the same people taunting her would have been on her side and joining in to fight for her Rights.
I would like to appreciate hon Miria Koburunga Matembe for extending support to Joan by way of providing of legal experts.
I urge all the other Human Rights organizations to take up her case and defend her and ensure her Rights and the rights of her child are not violated.
I urge all those helping her, to consider prosecution of Peter Ssematimba for Sexual Abuse of an employee. This would send a stern warning to all those who think maids are also providers in their sexual pleasure schemes.
I call upon anyone out there, whether a maid or not, who is suffering Sexual Harassment to reach out to me in anyway possible so we can find mechanisms of fighting this dangerous trend.
