{UAH} WHAT WAS THE LIFE IN LUZIRA PRISON WHEN PETER SIMON OKURUT WAS IN CHARGE OF KAMPALA? Part one
…………There is absolutely no foolish statement that was so enflamed like "Iddi Amin murdered so many people" It was stated by the UNLF/A, it was stated by Rwandans like Allan Barigye, it was stated by BBC, it was stated by the State Department and the Peter Simon Okurut's in power sadly used it to hold so many innocent people into Luzira. What killed it the most was that each source that used it gave out different numbers. Each dead person is valuable but when you state that Amin killed 10,000 people and another punk jumps out with half a million, you start to wonder the value of that statement.
Amin's government went after the people it wanted and killed them in day light, but going into villages as Akena Adoko did was never Amin's agenda. Every single village in Uganda was stable, life was moving on, schools were highly taken care of, and the soldiers were kept with a thumb in the nose. If you have or know of a school or a family where a daughter was raped in Amin's government, even if she was an Acholi I need the firkin name.
Yes there were some bad officers especially in State research Bureau it is an agency that many of us to today need to be investigated, We know Rwandans infiltrated it, but when Amin knew about a bad actor man they went after them. What never happened in Amin's government was a government sponsored violence to the population as the Okurut's government was, no I don't think a single watch was ever stolen from a Ugandan, nor a woman ever raped by a soldier in that government. What we really suffered from was a clearly Rwandan planed clandestine murder of people, they stole many cars from people and the drivers left dead, and the government failed to protect the population. That I will give to you.
Population security was paramount, those cars you saw patrolling Kampala, many had very high people watching over them, the reason you slept safely into your beds at night was because Alli Towilli was cruising the streets in an old firkin Peugeot, John Dole had a very old Volkswagen, sometimes Iddi Amin himself was on patrol cars, and that was all over the God damn country. It was a job for the Governors to implement what high ranking officers to patrol the police streets. I know that Amin used to drive to Kampala or Masaka or any city and go to a military police, pull out a Land Rover just to patrol and see how patrol cars are actually patrolling. He had a time he patrolled the entire country, so he spends days in Masaka and days in Mbarara, way up into Gulu, and back in the firkin East. You just did not know where or who was out there.
Because police officers and the military knew those patrols they never dared touch any one for you never knew whose car you will pull over. I remember a police car that pulled us over in Matugga, and they did not know that John Dole was in the back seat, we stopped and they asked for the driving license which we handed them, then in the process some kid figured out that the small man in the back was a director. And Ebbu twende's started to be screamed, and we to today wonder what they were doing in Matugga that time of the night, leave the people alone they are in firkin bars, and happy. It was funny !!!! Did you ever see David Oyite Ojoke on a street or Major Aggwa? Peter Simon Okurut, with all due respect sir, who actually was patrolling police and UNLA in Kampala when Uganda was under your watch sir?
That claim of Iddi Amin murdered half a million people, sadly became the weapon that the Okurut's used to hold our loved ones in Luzira. And I need to address that from the perspective of us as the family members of the officers. When you stand and claim that John Dole murdered any one we demand that you put him to court. There was not a single officer in Luzira that demanded any less. The mistake the Okurut's did was to drive all of them into Luzira, for that opened a very different pandora of worms. Luzira became the single protector of our people's lives. Out of Luzira you had marauding Acholi that only wanted to murder them at spot, for they served in Amin's government, but they would not reach them in Luzira. Our family as a good example was hunted by UNLA for Okello the bandmaster knew all our properties, so where ever we sat the bastard knew the place, and he drove them there. An Acholi is a killer for that Okello bastard was treated as a son, yet he hunted every officer that he knew of, for he wanted all of them dead. And the families they found they killed them, although to Peter Simon Okurut all those lives never mattered but firkin Jonan Luwum.
If you ever respect any officer in Uganda, respect Uganda Prison officers, man they are firkin professionals. They allowed us to enter the prison, they allowed us to visit our people as many times on many days as we wanted, and we were firkin many, imagine almost an entire Amin cream sitting in Luzira. But the prisons officers as well started an issue with the government, you cannot hold people in Luzira without charging them, there has to be a charge on which you are holding them, the Oyite Ojoke's did not have the charge. Those half a million murdered Ugandans did not materialize into a charge sheet. It was a street slang used to hold our people. And that is why to this day when you actually look into Peter Simon Okurut's eyes and ask him for a commission on Amin's government, he goes into a useless rant than allowing it.
We are here we are present, and many of them are actually still alive and in Uganda, open up an investigation and flocks of family members will accompany them to the hearing. Un like the Acholi Coons that are dying in secrecy, Amin's officers are simply not in diaspora, and those of us that have ended up in diaspora are out for Acholi went after us not for we did any crime in Uganda, and we leave firkin open lives.
As the pressure of Prisons continued, charges started to show up, and I will use the John Dole charge as a good example. Yes he was finally charged, and we were happy for we waited for that charge through the Lule, through the presidential commission, through the Binayiisa, and I think towards the end of Binayiisa or there about, the charge came up. He was charged with an attempt to kidnap and murder a Ugandan. The name was of an Acholi. So he was not charged with kidnap or with murder it was an attempt to kidnap and an attempt to murder, and they asked for a death sentence. We became relieved, for now we knew what we were up against, and on the so many that had been murdered out there in cold blood, that Peter does not count, you loved a relative to be in Luzira, charged and given a chance to self-defend. What was very strange in that case, we never heard of the victim's name, he did not know him, and he had no firkin clue what they were talking about. Absolutely nothing.
Now the ball of the case started to roll, for when you are charged you have to show up in the court, do you remember the buses of prison that were bringing prisoners to court with Acholi sitting on top of them? Well John Dole was one of those prisoners. They kept on shoveling him back and forth and saying nothing but extension. The time came for the trial and it started, they threw him into a government car and drove him to Karuma falls, they pointed to a tree and told him that under that tree is where he kidnaped the man and he tried to murder him.
For the record, in that entire trial, we did not see the victim, he never came to court, he was never identified, and he was never cross examined. To this day of writing, we have no clue who was the victim. That is how effective were the Okurut's courts. The death sentence was withdrawn, and he was found guilty of a lesser charge and he remained into Luzira. John Dole remained in Luzira due to his stubbornness, he refused to come back to serve in the police force. Many governments including the Obote two government called him to come back and he just refused. Museveni called him many times and he refused. So any chance he had to walk away he threw it out for he did not see a service to work in under any of those governments.
There are many cases that were filled in Luzira, there were many convictions that were filled in Luzira, there were many convictions that were got in Luzira, I still have a problem remembering an officer in the police or army that got sentenced to death and killed. Cassim Obura was killed by Museveni for Acholi wanted the God damn Acholi killed. But do you actually know a name of a police officer, military officer in Amin's government that was found guilty of murder and sentenced to death? I simply don't. Crapy charges were flying in and out, good men like Ali Fadhul found guilty and remained in Luzira, served their time, or simply got pardons, and all walked out. They are dying on Uganda streets as free people. And all have one common factor, all refused to join the band wagon of thieves so called governments. I wonder to today who among the cream of Iddi Amin's government that agreed to serve in UNLF/A, Probably Moses Ali, who else? If you have a head above you shoulder that should educate you the difference between Amin's government and what actually replaced it.
My next piece I am going to walk you right inside Luzira prison. What was life like in the middle of the Iddi Amin cream wing?

Subject: {UAH} WHAT WAS THE LIFE IN LUZIRA PRISON WHEN PETER SIMON OKURUT WAS IN CHARGE OF KAMPALA? Part one
Friends
To put this entire piece into perspective you need to understand that Peter Simon Okurut at the time, was in charge of Uganda government. Now after that statement, I need you to look at Luzira prison. Many Ugandans actually lose sight at a simple question, what was happening in Luzira prison after the fall of Amin and Peter is in charge? It is what I am addressing this morning. So you have the David Oyite Ojokes in Nile Mansion, Acholi gangs in Kampala with guns, Yusuf Lule a useless punk in State House, and Rwandans like Allan Barigye walking the Kampala streets, what exactly was the life in Luzira prison? Let us walk to Luzira this good Toronto morning.
After the Kampala fall you had so many Uganda Army officers, Police officers, Prison officers State research officers and so on that simply wanted to go to their offices to report for work. The incoming punks had absolutely no plan of command continuation, there was no instruction to the old guard at how to be turned over to the new command, there was actually no command infrastructure, as there was no order to them to how to report. They had so much military equipment for I remember even John Dole was handed a military fatigue and a couple of weapons for we were at war. So how would he report when there is no place to report? Kampala fall created a new scenario that the Tanzanians were fighting the war, as UA was retreating, so who exactly was in charge was it Oyite Ojoke, was it Mugushuri, was it Nyerere or Yusuf Lule the punk?
Now a situation happened very immediately that the incoming Okuruts had no firkin clue how to handle the takeover, the John Doles made a very quick decision to cross into Kenya and report to an organized system, their specific question was very simple, how do we report to our offices? Who exactly do we report to? They sat in Kisumu police station and handed in their entire hard ware and it was a good hard ware. Kenya government undermined them by lying to them that they had talked to the Okuruts, and the Okuruts wanted them returned to Uganda, The John Doles said fine we are going home for we have nothing to hide. Buses and buses were sent in and they were driven home directly to Luzira. It was very fascinating for a moment, for one of John Dole's drivers was the one that actually drove the bus in which John Dole was sitting. Full respect but as they were heading into Kampala, still there was simply no direction of what is happening to them let alone where they were heading. The buses arrived to Luzira and these full talented people walked into jails and handed a full wing.
It was a mixture of all of them but because they worked in the same government they knew each other, some knew who had promoted them, and some knew who commanded them, it was a mixture of all of them, police prison army military police. Due to that back ground, prison officers started to get the messages out to the families of who had been repatriated to Luzira, but there was no word from the Okuruts. There was so much infight in Kampala so much power hunger that these talents meant squat at the time. After a couple of weeks, Andrew kayiira walks in for he was the minister of internal affair thus in charge of the Luzira prison, he made a speech of about five minutes and it was very simple, all of you Iddi Amin's soldiers are killers, I am going back to Kampala to talk to president Yusuf Lule, so that he signs a death sentence to all of you and you get killed. That was it and he was driven out.
And here was the danger of that speech, in as much as Acholi were Coons on streets, Andrew Kayiira was supposed to be the cream in that government, he was American trained and a criminologist that should know the law, thus should have known that such generalization was never going to sell. Andrew Kayiira was a punk probably worse than Jonan Luwum. At that time we had started to go to Luzira and visit them, for prison officers were licking information as an old sponge, and many in their high ranking we knew by their faces. They had no clue what was in Kampala and they did not know who was in charge let alone what is going to happen. To Andrew kayiira the group responded very candidly, no kid ever refuses to go home, if you want to send us back to our maker we are good to go, set up the date. The order never showed up for Lule was wiped out of office and Kayiira lost the ministry all together. The John Doles remained in Luzira.
Another problem walked in, that as Acholi were on streets screaming every one that served in Amin's government is a killer, they started to attack and kill soldiers police officers even prison officers actually. It stared to look more clearer that it is safer to actually bring in yourself, so they picked up their uniform, their warrant card, and weapons and started to report to police stations. Here I am I hold this rank and here is my weapons, police stations drove all of them to Luzira. So that bunch all ending up into Luzira built the prisons number way high, and all not charged and all not absorbed back into the force. Remember the entire Uganda Army was just disbanded.
Part two will continue from here Insha Allah (أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ)
