Justice or Injustice?

A Mexican woman working in Qatar was sentenced to 7 years in jail and 100 lashes for reporting a rape. According to Qatar custom and laws, being a married woman she was charged with extra-marital affair as a punishable crime with 7 years in prison and whipping. So even though the assailant broke into her apartment, assaulted and raped her. That crime is not considered, the assailant was let go free and she is punished for reporting the crime. Do you think this custom or law is antiquated, morally wrong and has no sense of right and wrong?

In Middle eastern countries, women may be considered second class citizens, being inferior and treated less equal than men. Due to this fact, do you think these countries will have laws made in favor of men and have no regard for women under any circumstances?

Back in the 90's a female friend of mine signed a one year contract to work in Saudi Arabia with opportunity to renew the contract when it ends. The income was very good but she declined to renew the contract because she did not want to be there much longer. Her personal freedom was severely restricted, she cannot go to many public places alone ( bar, restaurant, theater, etc..), in public she needs to wear clothes that cover her from head to toes even in the hot summer and no contact with local men unless there is a relationship. Also as a female medical worker she's only allowed to care for female patients. Would you subject yourself to living in such society knowing you can make good money?
