Accidentally being overpaid.

A Chilean worker was accidentally overpaid 330 times more than his monthly salary ($180,418 instead of $545). When asked to return the extra money, he decided to resign and disappear with all the money!! In this day and age, do you find it's odd that his company had no way of reversing the mistake and repaying him correctly? Instead they totally relied on him to return the money and that is another mistake for trusting him.

The company is now suing him for misappropriating funds but he is nowhere to be found, thus becoming a fugitive on the run. I do not know how long $180,418 will last for a person in Chile but eventually the money will run out. Do you think the company made a mistake of overpaying him but ultimately he made a bigger mistake by keeping it and having to deal with all the consequences when the authority catches up with him?
