Elon Musk Challenges Joe Biden With This Tweet, Will He Accept?

Musk responded by requesting that Biden be given the keys to his social media account, suggesting that the octogenarian doesn't come up with tweets on his own.

Musk's challenge prompted a range of responses, including a quip from Dr. Jordan B. Peterson about the definition of "super-wealthy" and screenshots of the national debt clock. After the joking remark about Biden writing his tweets, Musk took on a more serious tone. He criticized excess government spending, saying that the burden is carried by those who can least afford it. Musk also predicted that the status quo would win the day, saying that while elaborate tax-avoidance schemes should be made illegal, donors would prevent any action from being taken.

President Biden tweeted on March 18 that the average tax billionaires pay is 3%, using the exact "pay your fair share" rhetoric as his Saturday tweet. This tweet earned a "Community Note," Twitter's crowd-sourced version of a fact-checking service. In response, Musk tweeted that he paid more income tax than anyone ever in the history of Earth for 2021 and will do that again in 2022. He added that he also spent 53% taxes on his Tesla stock options, which "must be lifting the average." In 2021, Musk said he paid over $11 billion in taxes.

Musk's challenge to President Biden's social media team is just the latest in a series of high-profile exchanges between the two. Musk has been critical of Biden's policies on climate change and has clashed with the administration over the proposed infrastructure bill. Despite their differences, both men are willing to work together on issues such as space exploration and electric vehicles.
